Island Basement Systems Case Studies: Icynene open cell foam installation in Victoria, BC

Friday, April 25th, 2014 by Chris Schmidt

This 2011 project involved us injecting the Icynene open cell foam into the empty wall cavities of this Rockland heritage house in Victoria. This was a truly magnificent home, with incredible views of the Olympic peninsula. However, with no insulation in the walls, the oil boiler was working overtime trying to keep the house warm, and the costs were getting prohibitive.

Our solution was to complete a full insulation envelope of the home, with the open cell foam being injected into the wall cavities, and the basement walls also were insulated. Now the house has a smaller heating footprint, is more comfortable to the occupants, and the work will be paid for by the reduced heating bills.
