Island Basement Systems becomes Sponsor for Herowork
Chris Schmidt, the owner and operator of Island Basement Systems, has donated two crawlspace encapsulations (20mil liner on the dirt floors, spray foam from the rim joists down) to the two story four-plex apartment building located at 1502 Davie Street (at Oak Bay Ave).
Matt Campbell, Island Basement Systems Certified Energy Assessor, has already performed the first of two whole home energy assessments. The assessments indicated where the heat loss is occurring (all over!) in the four apartments. Once the crawlspace encapsulations are complete, the air sealing of the attic and the application of the insulation, Matt will perform the final energy assessments to measure the improvements.
Peter Spaans, Island Basement Systems General Manager, has organized the crews and materials for this two day job and is looking forward to bringing this major home improvement to a deserving non-profit society.
Allyson Hatherill, Office Manager for Island Basement Systems is organizing the 'Convoy of Heros', a convoy of sponsors and volunteers for HeroWork. The convoy of approximately 75 vehicles will drive through Victoria, honking and cheering its way through the streets to the site. The local commumity will join HeoWork for the kick off to this radical community makeover. There will be clowns, live music, face painting, hot dogs and a potluck of desserts!

Kick off - Friday 19th September 2014 - convoy arrives at 1502 Davie Street (at Oak Bay Ave) at 4.30pm and marches onto the site at 5pm followed by the welcome speech, demo team start, food and live entertainment.
